Invitation

The Greek Chess Federation, the Greek Chess Composition Committee and the Chess Club of Koridallos have the honour to invite all delegates of the FIDE Permanent Commission for Chess Composition (PCCC), national teams and individual solvers, chess composers and all those interested in problem chess, to attend the 48th World Congress of Chess Composition (WCCC) and 29th World Chess Solving Championship (WCSC). The Congress will be held from Saturday 3rd September (arrival) to Saturday 10th September, 2005 (departure) at the Eretria Village Resort & Conference Centre in Eretria, Evia, with the WCSC on Tuesday and Wednesday, 6th and 7th September.

Getting there

Eretria is located in the island of Evia, about 110 kilometres from Athens International Airport "El. Venizelos". Transportation from/to the airport and the venue with coaches rented by the organisers is included in the congress price for those staying at the hotel. The participants who would travel by car or train should contact the organisers for further details. There are buses stopping just outside the hotel, but there is no public means of transportation with direct connection between the airport and the hotel. A taxi ride would cost appx. 90-100 EUR and takes a little more than an hour. Numerous car-hire outlets (including all the major multi-national companies) can be found at the Athens International Airport.

The hotel is a sophisticated complex of bungalows built in traditional Greek island architecture with a 1,107 sq. m. pool; it stands beside a sandy beach, set in colourful gardens, and is located about 5 kilometres from the town of Eretria. The Convention Centre Hall seats 650 persons in theatre style, it is column-free with 5m high ceiling and supported by 25 meeting rooms.

Further information about the resort and conference facilities can be found at the hotel website at http://www.holidaysinevia.gr
